Why Everyone Who Races IRL Benefits From a Sim

Track days arenโt cheap. Entry fees, tires, fuel, brake pads, hotel rooms, tow vehicles, food and all the other little expenses have a way of turning a weekend of driving into a four-figure exercise before youโve even unloaded the car.
And while thereโs no substitute for actually putting a race car on the track, there is a remarkably effective way to get more seat time without putting another set of tires on the credit card: a simulator. Grassroots Motorsports explains why here.
FIA Teams Up with Track Titan to Support Driver Development with a Focus on Sim Racing and Esports

The FIA and Track Titan, a UK-based AI driver coaching platform, have signed a Collaboration Agreement to help sim racers and Esports drivers develop and improve their performance. Under the agreement, Track Titan becomes an official โDriver Coaching Platform, in Collaboration with the FIAโ.
Track Titanโs platform uses advanced analysis tools to provide drivers with personalized feedback and technical insights, helping them understand their performance and identify areas for improvement. Track Titan will provide three-month subscription codes to FIA National Sporting Authorities (ASNs), enabling them to distribute access to their national communities.
The agreement reflects the FIAโs continued commitment to supporting the development of new generations of drivers and expanding opportunities for competitors across the rapidly evolving sim racing, Esports and motor sport landscape.
The collaboration will also explore further opportunities to make Track Titanโs coaching accessible to the wider FIA community and to strengthen links between sim racing, Esports and real-world motor sport.
Motorsport.com explains in their post here what Track Titan actually does.
Q&A with Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen made his GT World Challenge powered by AWS debut last weekend at Portimรฃo as part of the #3 Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing line-up. The Dutchman spoke on Thursday afternoon, shortly after taking part in testing at the Portuguese track. In the Q&A he commented on his sim racing teammate Chris Lulham.
โChris is someone Iโve worked with a long time in the sim racing world and now heโs here competing for real. Every race he is making more progress, getting better, getting more and more experience, and proving himself among the big boys in the paddock.โ
He also spoke out after the race after Lulham was criticized online for some incidents during the race.
“I feel it is necessary to address the hate and harassment Chris received after the race. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about what happened on track, but these personal attacks are not okay. Chris put in a really strong stint, and mistakes happen. There is no place for this kind of behavior in our sport or anywhere else.”
How IAAPS Shortens the Simulator-to-Racetrack Gap

Sim racing and driver simulators are becoming increasingly valuable tools for developing racing talent, but translating virtual performance into results on a real circuit remains a challenge. In this RACER article, the focus is on how the International Automotive and Advanced Propulsion Systems (IAAPS) facility is helping bridge that gap by connecting simulator-based training with real-world vehicle testing and engineering expertise. By bringing simulation and track experience closer together, this approach highlights the potential to help drivers better understand vehicle behaviour, refine their techniques and make more effective use of limited and expensive track time.
Team53 Mid Week Mini Series Offers Sim Racers a Path to Real-World Racing

The Team53 Mid Week Mini Series is a driver development program designed to give dedicated grassroots sim racers the opportunity to progress from virtual competition to real-world racing, with the ultimate goal of finding the next driver for Eleven53 Motorsports. Competing on iRacing in the Global Mazda MX-5 Cup, participants must demonstrate strong racecraft, on-track ability and off-track professionalism.
The Season Champion can choose between a fully funded co-driver seat in the Team53 Mini Cooper at a Lucky Dog Racing League (LDRL) endurance event next year, subject to eligibility for an LDRL license, or a $750 cash alternative.
Full details can be found here.
Race Prep with Virtex

The season is raced on weekends, but it’s prepared in the weeks between them. Between rounds, drivers rarely get to choose when they go on track. Sometimes the circuit isn’t available, sometimes a testing ban rules it out. A single simulator session fills that gap: the team correlates the model, tests new setups and prepares the next race weekend, in one place and on its own schedule.
Over the winter, that work builds the baseline. During the season, it prepares each round. Build your program at Virtex here: https://www.virtexsimulation.com/book-a-demo

Nepal Hosts National Sim Racing Championship for Young Drivers
The Nepal Automobiles’ Association (NASA Nepal) recently organized the Nepal Sim Racing National Championship 2026 at the International Sports Complex in Lalitpur, Nepal. Supported by the FIA Motorsport Funding Program, the project has strengthened grassroots motorsports development in Nepal by providing sim racing training to more than 400 young people.
The championship comprised four regional competitions and one national championship, offering regional exposure to the junior and senior winners, who demonstrated promising talent on the two FIA-accredited sim racing simulators NASA Nepal purchased to support the competition.
The championship used advanced sim racing technology and the iRacing platform, allowing participants to compete on internationally recognized virtual circuits. The event provided an opportunity to develop racing skills, precision, strategic thinking and competitive discipline in a structured digital motorsports environment.
